Contributing to WASH AI

When you contribute a link or file, here’s exactly what happens to it — and what doesn’t.

In short: WASH AI is building an open, well-cited knowledge base for the water, sanitation & hygiene sector. Contributing adds the resource you share to that library so others can find it through WASH AI — with attribution, never to train AI, and always something you can undo.

Two kinds of contributions

Links with content

A public web page or a file you upload — a report, dataset, PDF, and the like. We read the document itself and make its content searchable in WASH AI.

References & pointers

A training session, event, or opportunity — where the link itself is what’s worth sharing, rather than a document to ingest.

Any link is welcome, but we reserve the right not to include a given resource in WASH AI’s knowledge base.

What happens to your link or file

  1. 1. You share a resource

Whenever you shorten a link or drop in a file and leave “Contribute to WASH AI’s knowledge base” ticked, you’re telling us this resource is worth making easier to find — and that you have the right to share it.

  2. 2. We read what it’s about

After you get your short link, we look at the resource in the background. If it points to actual content — a public web page, or a file you upload, which we host so the short link has something to open — we pull out its text: the title, summary, and key details. If it’s more of a reference — a training session, event, or opportunity — we simply note what the link is about, since the link itself is the useful thing.

  3. 3. We organise it

We tag the resource with basics like its title, topic, and the region it relates to, so it can sit alongside other WASH references in the same subject area — like filing a report on the right shelf.

  4. 4. It becomes findable in WASH AI

The resource is added to WASH AI’s open knowledge base and openly cited with attribution. From then on, someone searching WASH AI for that topic can discover the resource you shared — your short link helps the whole sector.

What we don’t do

We don’t train AI on it

Your links and their content are never used to train AI models. The knowledge base is a searchable, well-cited library — not training data.

It’s opt-in and reversible

Untick the box and you simply get a short link — nothing is contributed. Changed your mind later? Ask us to remove a contributed resource at any time at [email protected].

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union 🇪🇺. We never sell it and never share it with third parties. The full details live in our Terms (see “Contributing to WASH AI’s knowledge base”) and WASH AI’s Privacy Policy.
